BOATS4CORAL

Red Cat Adventures has been proud to be teamed up with Australian Institute of Marine Science, Southern Cross University, Reef Catchment and other tourism operators to be a part of the Boats4Corals project for the last 4 years.

This project is an approach to lend a helping hand in the restoration of our reefs in the Whitsundays through Coral Larval Restorations also known as Coral IVF. This method includes collecting wild coral spawn silks, incubating them in large floating larval pools for 5-7 days and then once fertilised with each other deployed directly onto reefs that have little to no coral cover.

It is estimated that it improves the chance of coral spawn surviving to adulthood from approximately 1 in 1 million, to 1 in 10,000.

So far, we have deployed coral larval at Stonehaven Bay, Black Island West and Maureens Cove.

'Red Cat Adventures acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work, and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging'.
