WATER QUALITY MONITORING

DSC01675.jpg

The Whitsunday Water Quality Monitoring Blueprint for Tourism Operators project aims to increase understanding of water quality and reef health in the Whitsundays.

We have been working with other Tourism operators in the Whitsundays to collect data in this citizen science project to keep track of the water quality

in our area.

On 4 February 2020 Tourism operators, JCU, Reef Catchments and the Whitsunday Charter Boat Industry Association deployed two loggers.

We have been maintaining these loggers every 4 weeks and will continue to do so until the project ends in 2021.

On the 6th of September 2021 an additional 3 crew members undertook training on how to take water quality samples.
