CREW PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Red Cat Adventures is striving to develop educational programs for our staff and guests, and to do this we strongly support our staff in undertaking external training which ensures our team provide the best, most up to date information.

CORAL WATCH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
Two of our Reefsearchers - Micca & Deb - attended the workshop held on Heron Island which focused on professional development, including field activities, coral identification, data analysis and learning how to effectively teach how to monitor coral and educate about this precious marine environment.
MASTER REEF GUIDES
Master Reef Guides strive to be the world’s leading reef guides and interpreters sharing the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. As reef ambassadors Red Cat Adventures Master Reef Guides impart up-to-date scientific and management information about the reef and explain what people can do to make a difference.
To become a Master Reef Guide, each individual from their respective High Standard Tourism Operator must attend and successfully complete intensive training. Accompanied by a range of mentors - from Reef Authority staff to Traditional Owners, scientists, communicators and more - these Guides are taken on an immersive journey through the history, the present and the future of the Great Barrier Reef. They receive the latest reef information from these mentors and experts to improve their knowledge, their connection and their interpretation skills to share the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area.
SAVANNAH GUIDES 2026
Rowena, Jayde and Jessie recently returned from the Savannah Guides Limited Field School in Cairns, and the impact has been immediate. The program is known for shaping some of the country's best guides, with a strong focus on storytelling, cultural understanding, and connecting guests to place in a meaningful way.
Since coming back, the difference has been noticeable. Guests are getting more than just a tour, they’re getting stories, context and a deeper understanding of the Whitsundays. From explaining the environment to confidently engaging with a wide range of guests, the overall experience on board has lifted.
Just as importantly, they’ve shared what they learnt with the wider team, building confidence across the crew and raising the overall standard of guiding. It’s created a stronger, more connected team environment where knowledge is passed on and everyone improves together.
In an industry where expectations are constantly growing, this kind of investment matters. It ensures we’re not only keeping up, but leading from the front when it comes to delivering high quality, memorable experiences.
For us, this is what great tourism looks like, passionate people, continuous learning and experiences that guests genuinely remember.
LOCAL FLORA & FAUNA
We were lucky enough to host ex Mackay Ranger and long time local Steve Pearson. Steve's passion for and knowledge of the local flora and fauna is second to none.
Steve took out our team to Cedar Creek Falls to educate us on identifying tree species, the importance of control burning, local bush tucker and use for plants, and general knowledge that our team can now share with our guests, whether out on the water or guiding our Falls to Paradise tour.
Thank you Steve!
